Why is a perfect forgery worth less than an original work of art?
Ảnh

A perfect forgery may be indistinguishable from the original in every aspect but it’s worth less than the original work because of the difference in their historical and cultural value. An original work of art is a unique product of the artist's creativity, skill, and expression. It reflects the artist's vision, intention, and context. It also has a provenance, which is the history of its ownership, exhibition, and authentication. A perfect forgery, on the other hand, is a mere imitation of the original work of art. It does not have the same artistic merit as the original one.
