Earth is the third planet in the solar system. Earth orbits the sun at a distance of roughly 93 million miles and is the only known planet capable of supporting life. - Mars:
Mars is the fourth planet from the Sun and is the second smallest planet in the solar system. Named after the Roman god of war, Mars is also often described as the “Red Planet” due to its reddish appearance. Mars is a terrestrial planet with a thin atmosphere composed primarily of carbon dioxide. - Jupiter:
Jupiter is the fifth planet from our sun and the largest planet in the solar system. Jupiter`s stripes and swirls are cold, windy clouds of ammonia and water. - Saturn:
Saturn is the sixth planet from our Sun. It is called the `jewel of the solar system` because of its beautiful rings. It is the second largest planet in our solar system. - Uranus:
The seventh planet from the sun with the third largest diameter in our solar system, Uranus is very cold and windy. - Neptune:
Neptune is the eighth planet from the Sun making it the most distant in the solar system. This gas giant planet may have formed much closer to the Sun in early solar system history before migrating to its present position. Objectives:
